Provision

God's provision is daily, not all at once. We cannot store it up and then cut off communication with God. And we dare not be self-satisfied. If you are running low on strength, ask yourself, "How long have I been away from the Source?"

“Give us each day our daily bread.”Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

It is easy to burn with passion when we first come to Christ. When we were first baptised, when we just got to experience God’s love or when He spoke to us so personally. Each of these experiences and passion that we have for God are the times where His glory was shown, where we give Him praise and thanks and being basked in His light and warmth.

Friends, do you feel that God seems far away? Or like He did not speak to you anymore? Or something like you don’t sense His presence or even thinks that perhaps He has given up on you? Or are you feeling like you are on auto-roam with a bad connection? Like sometimes it’s there and sometimes it’s not?

I think it is pretty normal to feel this way since our lives each have our own highs and lows. However in those highs and lows where we each experience different emotions or extremes, did we intentionally also tell God about it? Who is our Abba Father to us? Did we treat Him like how a kid treat their parent? Or have we treated Him like an ATM-only gg to Him to ask for things

Let’s travel back in time when you were 3 years old. You may not remember a lot back then but just imagine that you are now 3 years old. When you see your favourite toy do you scream with excitement and go “Daddy Daddy / Mummy Mummy blah blah blah!!” Or when you go to the zoo and was just so fascinated with the animals and kept telling your parents to see this and that? Somewhere along the way, we kind of lost that enthusiasm. We don’t connect so well with our parents anymore and we don’t go hug them the moment when we see them. We go into our rooms and just do our own thing. Life goes on..

One day, when you finally sat down with them, you realised that they have suddenly aged so much and you had forgotten the last time you looked at them properly or even gave them a hug or tell them “I love you”.

Travel back in time a little more when we were babies. When we cry because we cannot talk. Where our parents perhaps don’t even understand why we cry but they try ways and means to pacify us in their own ways, showering us with either frustrations because they just don’t know what to do with us or endless outpouring of love. However, the thing we know for sure, we will be fed. And when we are hungry, we will cry for the milk that we desire and it will be given.

This food is nourishment and necessary for our growth. Similarly, we need spiritual food for our spiritual life. But are we feeding enough in order to grow? Or are we having malnutrition and experiencing stunted growth? What’s worse instead of growing up we grow worms in our tummy!

What’s your favourite food?

Friends, good food or comfort food is what we want for our dietary needs. What food if any, are we taking for our spiritual needs? Which is your favourite book in the bible? The Lord has specifically said that it is daily bread. What could be a better reason that He truly wishes for us to seek Him daily?

God's provision is daily, not all at once. We cannot store it up and then cut off communication with God. And we dare not be self-satisfied. If you are running low on strength, ask yourself, "How long have I been away from the Source?" - bottomline, stay plugged in
