Acknowledging Jesus in public

Everyone was talking about Jesus! But when it came time to speak up for him in public, no one said a word. All were afraid. Fear can stifle our witness. Although many people talk about Christ in church, when it comes to making a public statement about their faith, they are often embarrassed. Jesus says that he will acknowledge us before God if we acknowledge him before others. Be courageous! Speak up for Christ!

“But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.”John‬ ‭7‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

Hmm… I have this vision in my head. That a friend whom I knew and worked together have said so much good things about me while at work. However, once he stepped out outside of work and saw me, he treated me as if I was invisible. I tried waving but it was embarrassing. How would you feel?

This is just a fictitious person by the way but it can bring about feelings of injustice. But you know what? This is exactly how we are treating Christ. We go church, sing praises and worship, recite or can even memorise the apostles creed / nicene creed, the Lord’s prayer, etc. but do we truly treat Him the way He should be treated? Are we embarrassed to acknowledge that He is our Lord and Saviour? I hope not?! Is He ever embarrassed by us?! Never! Even by all the whatever s**t stuff we had done in the past or still doing, He still loves us and welcomes us home with open arms!

I don’t know who can love us more than God. Always faithful and always granting us so much grace and mercy despite our wrongdoings. Loving us with so much loving kindness and that every blessing that we received meant so much more. We belong to the Lord. We in Him and He in us. More of Him and less of us.
