God’s teaching
Jesus was alluding to an Old Testament view of the Messianic kingdom in which all people are taught directly by God. He was stressing the importance of not merely hearing, but learning. We are taught by God through the Bible, our experiences, the thoughts the Holy Spirit brings, and relationships with other Christians. Are you open to God's teaching?
“It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me.”
John 6:45 NIV

Reflections
It will be important I believe, to come to the Lord every time, with an open heart. The readiness to learn, relearn, repeat.
Being a born again Christian, there are many things I have to relearn. It takes time, it takes faith, trust and a lot of surrendering. It is a process that I am still processing and trying to learn because to having learned and build myself up for the past 40 over years and to relearn a new method of doing things is a whole new level for me. I’m sure most of us would feel the same way.
The world teaches us to rely on ourselves, our power, strength, skills, etc in order to achieve things. Thus the things we build or managed to achieve are the very things that become our idols, because it contains our pride, ego, ambition, perfection, etc amongst other things. The Lord however, teaches us something new. All those beliefs that we knew, we can throw it out of our window. He is starting this new life with us. We are relearning to rely on His strength, His power, on Him to achieve things. There is no more pride or ego per se because it doesn’t come from us. It comes from the Almighty Lord and God who grants us the very skills we have, placing us in situations or circumstances where we can put all those to good use and to glorify His name. Nothing is wasted here.
The day before I was just thinking. My mum having broke her wrist after she fell and having a metal piece in there may not seemed like a learning experience. To her, it is crazy and scary and creates in her some form of fear. However, it is exactly because of her experience, that she is given the chance to share her experience with a fellow sister who also suffered a fracture on her wrist and felt so bitter. These things can only be orchestrated by God.
What I want to say here is this. In our learning journey, we may have obstacles and challenges which we cannot make sense of. But we ought to just trust our faithful Father who wants only the best things for us. It may be above our heads to try to grapple with His thoughts and plans, but it is so much easier to just submit and not try to make sense of it. Because in due time, we may finally understand why He needs to do what He does but meanwhile, don’t worry so much but just trust Him. If there’s only one person whom you have to choose to rely on, that man has to be our Lord. No one else.
