Jesus is God

This is one of the most powerful statements uttered by Jesus. When he said that he existed before Abraham was born, he undeniably proclaimed his divinity. Not only did Jesus say that he existed before Abraham, he also applied God's holy name to himself. This claim demands a response. It cannot be ignored. The Jewish leaders tried to stone Jesus for blasphemy because he claimed equality with God. But Jesus is God. How have you responded to Jesus, the Son of God?

Reflections

I’m not sure how I would respond if I were to be born during those times. Having someone tell me that He was born before Abraham. Would I have felt like one of them and try to stone Him too?


There are many things that are happening around us that go beyond human understanding. But do we too become too quick to judge whenever someone said something? It takes more than wisdom and knowledge to understand and try to wrap our heads around things that seemed to be impossible. A lot of discernment is needed and it is also no wonder Jesus said to Thomas to stop doubting and believe (v27). “Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.””John‬ ‭20‬:‭29‬ ‭NIV‬‬


“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬ but how many of us can actually claim this? Can our faith be even compared to the mustard seed? Is it smaller than that? I guess this is something for me to keep reflecting and trusting God in everything. He has proven to me that He can and if He can and has that track record, He definitely can do it again. Praying our faith in the Lord continues to grow exponentially!

How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest?

If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20). How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest? He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5).

Year One Readings: 2 Kings 15 2 Kings 16 2 Kings 17 John 6:1-21 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do (John 6:6).  He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5). Jesus doesn’t ask the above question to Philip because He needs an answer; our Lord knows all things. The Good Shepherd’s question has a twofold effect: It shows the inability of men to meet the needs of mankind and displays the impossibility of feeding the vast multitude. Philip should have turned to Jesus and said, “For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37). This is the first miracle the disciples participate in with the Lord.
