Walk in His light

Jesus said he would be with them in person for only a short time, and they should take advantage of his presence while they had it. Like a light shining in a dark place, he would point out the way they should walk. If they walked in his light, they would become "children of the light," revealing the truth and pointing people to God. As Christians, we are to be Christ's light bearers, letting his light shine through us. How brightly is your light shining? Can others see Christ in your actions?


“Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.”John‬ ‭12‬:‭35‬-‭36‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

We need to start walking in the light because darkness is coming soon and we will not see any light, except for the light that is shining through us upon others to help light their paths.


Light bearers remind me of the Olympics. Where they carry the light and pass it on till the main fire in the stadium is being lit. It is a continuous race that we are running and one by one we are carrying the torches of fire-which also symbolises the Holy Spirit. And with it comes God’s presence, God’s passion as well as God’s purity. 


The fire that we hold sanctifies us, helps burn away the dross in our lives and brings us close to God. 


And one by one we pass on that fire to the next person in line. The next person can be anyone, like our disciples maybe, our CG or even anyone who we are ministering to. 


The important thing is not let the light go out, to continue to run and light up the world of others. Once the final day comes and the heaven is revealed, nobody will run anymore. For the light from heaven will be so bright that it will shine forth on every single person on earth. On that day, judgement will also befall on us all. So start running and burning for Christ before it all gets too late.

How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest?

If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20). How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest? Traditionally the two most honored guests at the feast would recline on the right and left hand of the host. He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5).

Year One Readings: 2 Kings 15 2 Kings 16 2 Kings 17 John 6:1-21 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do (John 6:6).  He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5). Jesus doesn’t ask the above question to Philip because He needs an answer; our Lord knows all things. The Good Shepherd’s question has a twofold effect: It shows the inability of men to meet the needs of mankind and displays the impossibility of feeding the vast multitude. Philip should have turned to Jesus and said, “For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37). This is the first miracle the disciples participate in with the Lord. Amazingly, Jesus provides “as much [bread and fish] as they wanted” (John 6:11). The verb “they wanted” occurs in the imperfect tense, showing continual action in past time.
