Christ’s love and power

Today's devotional: taken from YouVersion, Life Application Study Bible Devotion
The love that caused Christ to die is the same love that sends the Holy Spirit to live in us and guide us every day. The power that raised Christ from the dead is the same power that saved you and is available to you in your daily life. Be assured that, having begun a life with Christ, you have a reserve of power and love to call on each day, for help to meet every challenge or trial. You can pray for God's power and love as you need it.
“Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”Romans 5:9-10 NIV

Reflections
It is kind of hard for me to grapple with the kind of love and power that was given to us by Jesus. It goes beyond all human understanding and is far greater than any love or power that I have ever known. I only know what love feels like by my own limited experience and knowledge and none of these love I’ve known or felt can be compared to His love for us. His love is selfless, giving, loving.
There is also definitely power in His name. That same resurrection power is given to us. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world, and with that we shall have no fear for we have been also called children of God and co-heirs of Christ. So then what would be the implications or what would that mean to us?
We will start to live our life differently from before because we now live a Christ-guided life. We will inherit His power to cause an internal change in us that is transformative, that will be so obvious, that people around us will also notice the change in us. However if we try to do that on our own, the effect will not be the same. Relying on our own powers, no matter how successful we become, will eventually lead to death. Because no amount of worldly pleasures will be able to satisfy our inner soul. We will keep wanting for more and it will never fill our thirst. Only the living streams of water from Jesus can satisfy that thirst.
His transformation will bring about a change in our thought perspective as well. Whatever we used to think will be changed and rewired. Whatever we thought impossible can be changed by Him for only in Him, are we able to find the power to transform and turn things around. The hatred I have for my mum was turned around into love. I don’t understand and don’t know how He does it but everything from then on is just different. I cannot say that I am not at times irritated by my mum for I am still human but to say that I hate her, I longer do. I do love her now and I hope the love of Christ that flows through me to love will flow through her to the others she meet as well. God bless.
