Everything comes from You

None of these Christians felt that what they had was their own, and so they were able to give and share, eliminating poverty among them. They would not let a brother or sister suffer when others had plenty. How do you feel about your possessions? We should adopt the attitude that everything we have comes from God, and we are only sharing what is already his.

“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭32‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

It would be real easy for the poor who want to make it equal. However for the rich, they will have to give away their possessions and wealth so that everyone owns about the same. No caste systems, no imbalance of power, no inequality. If everyone is really willing to do all that with no holding back, it would be a wonderful place to live in. I believe that was so in the past until a couple decided to not to declare everything they had and they died one after another.

It is hard for people to let go, even more so the hard earned money. It’s hard also to let go of our retirement plans. Plans that we made so that we can live comfortable lives when we are of old. Have we then become selfish and not sharing with others what we have? Did we already forget that everything on the earth belongs to Him? He can give and He can also take away.

I choose to believe that each and every one of us, regardless of amount of wealth we have, is willing to give and share with others, because we all know how hard it is to survive in this dog eat dog world and with inflation, it is rather hard to get by at times. However, God also taught us to be good stewards of money. We also would want to exercise some form of discernment and wisdom so that we do not end up giving money to scammers or people who use it and gamble it away.

In my own opinion, we need to recognise that any possessions that we have belongs to God. Any good place we are staying belongs to God. Any good retirement sum we have also belongs to God. Even as we exercise prudence and not spent money wilfully, we too ought to help our fellow brothers and sisters in need if we have the means to. Do not hold too tightly on to our purses. He will never shortchange us.
