Honouring God with our bodies

What did Paul mean when he said that our bodies belong to God? Many people say they have the right to do whatever they want with their own bodies. Although they think that this is freedom, they are really enslaved to their own desires. When we become Christians, the Holy Spirit fills and lives in us. Therefore, we no longer own our bodies. "Bought . . . with a high price'' refers to slaves purchased at auction. Christ's death freed us from sin, but also obligates us to his service. If you live in a building owned by someone else, you try not to violate the building's rules. Because your body belongs to God, you must not violate his standards for living.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV

Reflections
Indeed, before I became a Christian, I have those same thoughts too. My body is mine, I do whatever I want with it! But kid you not, people who talk like these probably don’t wish to take care of their bodies. Worse still, they understand that what they are doing is not good but they still do it. I would think it is more of giving in to temptations or carnal pleasures.
I think some of the things we do, which I myself is guilty of, ain’t prove of being Spirit filled. Because I sleep late, I ate junk, even though knowing all these are not so good habits. Yet thinking, it’s ok, just a few times, or just a bit, etc. Deep down I know it’s definitely more than a bit. So yeah, at times I wonder why I so tired ah? I think I should know better.
In the bible it is also mentioned that Jesus wakes up early to pray, when it was still dark. ~Mark 1:35. If we think of ourselves as His servants, what right have we to wake up later than our master? Though challenging, this is also something I want to try change. A good timing to rest and so wake up early to start the day fresh, and spend time with the Lord before anything else.
