No excuses

Does anyone have an excuse for not believing in God? The Bible answers an emphatic no. God has revealed what he is like in and through his creation. Every person, therefore, either accepts or rejects God. Don't be fooled. When the day comes for God to judge your response to him, no excuses will be accepted. Begin today to give your devotion and worship to him.


“since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.”

Reflections

Do you remember the time when you accepted God?  We may not know fully but we do know Him. We did trust at that moment in time, and recognised that He is the only One True God, and that there will be no longer gods in our lives except Him. At least that was what I was told and I remember that. 


We cannot love God and also love someone else. There’s only one choice. This is an intentional choosing on our part. He revealed to us and has made known the things we ought to know before we make our choices and we understand too, that it will have to be Him first and the rest later. There is no grey area when it comes to this.


So the ultimate question is whether we are ready to face the judgement? The day will come when He will separate us and indeed, no excuses will be entertained because we know full well who we are choosing and why. If we don’t choose Him now, we won’t choose Him later too. Don’t give yourself anymore excuses to wait. The time is now.

How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest?

If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20). How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest? The triclinium is used for the Passover meal. It consists of three couches. Guests would recline with their left hand supporting their head while feeding themselves with their right hand. Traditionally the two most honored guests at the feast would recline on the right and left hand of the host. John, who reclines on the Lord’s breast, sits at Jesus’ right (John 13:23) and Judas on His left. When Jesus identifies His betrayer, no one hears but Judas, who is sitting next to Him (Matthew 26:25). He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5).

Year One Readings: 2 Kings 15 2 Kings 16 2 Kings 17 John 6:1-21 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do (John 6:6).  He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5). Jesus doesn’t ask the above question to Philip because He needs an answer; our Lord knows all things. The Good Shepherd’s question has a twofold effect: It shows the inability of men to meet the needs of mankind and displays the impossibility of feeding the vast multitude. Philip should have turned to Jesus and said, “For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37). This is the first miracle the disciples participate in with the Lord. Amazingly, Jesus provides “as much [bread and fish] as they wanted” (John 6:11). The verb “they wanted” occurs in the imperfect tense, showing continual action in past time.
