Remembering the lessons
Today's pressures make it easy to ignore or forget the lessons of the past. But Paul cautions us to remember the lessons the Israelites learned about God so we can avoid repeating their errors. The key to remembering is to study the Bible regularly so that these lessons remind us of how God wants us to live. We need not repeat their mistakes!
“These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.”
1 Corinthians 10:11 NIV

Reflections
I think for us all who read the bible bit by bit, day after day, we may not even memorise the whole bible. However as we read, we do remember how the word speaks to us and how it makes us felt. The Lord works in mysterious and miraculous ways that goes way out of the box. Whenever we hit a dead-end, He will remind us or point us on where we should go.
Not everyone who reads understands and not everyone who understands apply what they read. At times when we read, we understand what the lesson is about but we forgot to apply to our lives. It is usually till a point that the Lord may perhaps got frustrated after reminding us umpteenth time that He will send us a big reminder (sometimes literally big) just so as to make sure we see it!
He has been really gracious and it almost felt like his grace has no limits. He understands how the human hearts work and fully understands that there are times when we just want to play truant or we just want to play. Maybe that’s the reason why the school says you need to have 75% attendance rate and not 100%?
But yes, remember the lessons and don’t make the same mistake as the people in the past has made. Stay close to Christ, repent and seek His forgiveness if there is anything that has reminded or convicted us of. Come to Him as is, there is no need to fear or be sorry for.
