The wages of sin is death

Some sins seem bigger than others because their obvious consequences are much more serious. Murder, for example, seems to us to be worse than hatred, and adultery seems worse than lust. But this does not mean that because we do lesser sins we deserve eternal life. All sin makes us sinners, and all sin cuts us off from our holy God. All sin, therefore, leads to death (because it disqualifies us from living with God), regardless of how great or small it seems. Don't minimize "little" sins or overrate "big" sins. They all separate us from God, but they all can be forgiven.

Reflections
It is pretty common for anyone to think that only actual sin is qualified as sin. What if I challenge you to this.. if a person thinks about killing someone all the time, would he have sinned? How about someone who thinks about raping someone, would they have sinned? So my question is, if the person has not committed the actual act of sin but have sinful thoughts, is that sin?
From google: “Sin is broadly defined as an action, thought, or attitude that goes against a religious or moral law, a divine standard, or what is considered right and good. While it can be an overt immoral act, it also encompasses a deliberate choice to do wrong, a failure to do what is right (a "sin of omission"), or even harmful selfish impulses. The specific interpretation of what constitutes sin varies across different cultures and religions”.
From GotQuestions: “Sin is described in the Bible as transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4) and rebellion against God. Nearly everyone, at some point or another, has been subject to intrusive thoughts. These involuntary, unwanted images, phrases, or impulses are extremely common. Intrusive thoughts are not necessarily sin—even blasphemous ones. Our minds are weak and easily influenced by the world around us. But intentionally exposing ourselves to blasphemy, violence, and other evils may be sin.”
Being a child of God helps us to discern the rights and the wrongs. When intrusive thoughts enter our minds, we would be quick to nip it in the bud. We would not allow that dead plant to flourish and grow in our head, affect our hearts and eventually turn us into the dark side. God forbid. Therefore the more we are closer to God, the more we will reject or even avoid situations which may cause intrusive thoughts to enter. We do not give our enemy a foothold. Don’t even think of being nice and open the door to entertain such thoughts. It does nothing to help us and in fact will only derail us from our end goal.
Focus our eyes on Jesus and don’t waver. I like what John Wesley said “…fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God…” If we love our God we will not sin against Him, not even in our thoughts. Cleanse our thoughts O Lord, that it will be purified and cleansed of anything that is unrighteous and unholy in Your sight. Grant us clean hands and pure hearts. Amen ๐๐ป
