Unified in God

Paul wanted the Corinthians to understand that they were a unified assembly. They were not to see themselves as a collection of competing interests or independent individuals. Paul was emphasizing the intent of Jesus' prayer in John 17:21-23 that believers be unified in God. What actions can you take this week to strengthen your ties to fellow Christians in the church of Jesus Christ?

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.”1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

Probably for Paul to make that statement was because he knew that the community was a total mess. They may even be Christians but they probably don’t look or behave very Christ-like.

When we read the bible, we see how bad or how terrible the people of those times had been. However, ponder a bit deeper, aren’t we any different? What makes a community or a body of Christ? Perhaps people having a common interest or purpose coming together? What or how then, are we different from the rest of the communities out there, especially the religious ones?

Often, I feel we overlooked the fact that we too, in our communities, are incomplete and not united. There are differences between churches, hardly any collaboration between them, and bottomline it felt that they are just one part of the body doing their own thing, which I felt like more could be achieved when every one can come together to make the whole community better cared for with lesser resources and eventually also be able to make better outreach too.

My personal vision would be to see lesser division, even in groups, etc wanting to achieve their own objectives but coming together with a common goal, nationally or internationally for the common good.
