Finding true comfort
Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away. But if that were always so, people would turn to God only out of a desire to be relieved of pain and not out of love for him. We must understand that being comforted can also mean receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with our troubles. The more we suffer, the more comfort God gives us. If you are feeling overwhelmed, allow God to comfort you. Remember that every trial you endure will help you comfort other people who are suffering similar troubles.
“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”Galatians 1:3-5 NIV

Reflections
This verse comes to mind when I read the above devotion.. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV
I find God sometimes amusing and frustrating at the same time.. lol. Because in the midst of my suffering, He still can use me to bring comfort to others, not just once but multiple times, so much so I am somehow made aware of the situation I am in that it kind of happened on purpose. It is also a reminder that God can use anyone in whatever state that we are in to serve others. Remember that He qualifies the called and not call the qualified.
I witness this first hand as well, when He prompted me to ask my mum to visit a fellow sister’s mum whose wrist was fractured. Something that my mum experienced too about 3 years ago and had healed. In a way my mum’s case was more serious as hers was an open fracture and my friend’s mum was a closed fracture. My mum was also more elderly. So when my mum and I went to visit her in the hospital, she felt so encouraged! Praise the Lord! Before she was so downcast and pessimistic and was thinking how she can recover. So indeed, the Lord our God knows and even when we went through valleys, our experience can also in turn help and encourage others too.
My mum after the visit, also shared with me the joy in her heart that her own experience was able to bless others too! Be encouraged, especially when we are in the valleys. We may not fully understand why we go through certain things but the joy of the Lord will bring us through and overflow from us too!
