Saved by grace through faith

Grace is God's voluntary and loving favor given to those he saves. We can't earn salvation, nor do we deserve it. No religious, intellectual, or moral effort can gain it, because it comes only from God's mercy and love. Without God's grace, no person can be saved. To receive it, we must acknowledge that we cannot save ourselves, that only God can save us, and that our only way to receive this loving favor is through faith in Christ.

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,”Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

When we read about being saved through faith, the verse from Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” will kind of automatically appear in our heads. For grace is undeserved favour. We as sinners do not deserve grace but God because of His love for us, freely grant us multitudes of grace and mercy. Remembering that our God is a compassionate God and He can fully empathise with our situations.

The focus here is to recognise and acknowledge that we cannot save ourselves and that only He can save us. If we have the thinking that we know, we have everything in our control, like it is our ability and strength that we get to where we are now, take heart. “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we become children of God, we are taught to become like children to our Abba Father and Lord. The full reliance is on Him and never on ourselves. Having the feeling that “I already know” is a big mistake. It meant that we are so full of ourselves that we don’t need God. He is always reminding us in all situations to put Him first, even in situations when we think we know but do we, really? Like who is the Sovereign Lord here? Who is the Mighty Creator of heavens and earth? Is that you or me? God forbid. He is teaching us to humble ourselves and learn from the others as there is always something to learn. As there is always some good in others. Give that grace to others as we have received the grace from God.
