Submit to God

God is interested in every part of our lives, not just the spiritual part. As we live by the Holy Spirit's power, we need to submit every aspect of our lives to God-emotional, physical, social, intellectual, vocational. Paul says that because we're saved, we should live like it! The Holy Spirit is the source of your new life, so keep in step with his leading. Don't let anything or anyone else determine your values and standards in any area of your life.


“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

Submission to God should be the undergird of every Christian life. It is no longer I who liveth but Christ who live in me. It is, however, a process since it can be quite impossible for us to change overnight. Of course there are also exceptions.


The submission to God would be evident in our life. In the way we sleep or spend our time, the way we talk or the thoughts we think, the way we handle and respond to situations or conflicts, challenges even, says much about us. 


Often I do find that we are under the scrutiny of many. Perhaps we talked a lot about love, care and kindness. People walked into church with certain expectations and we come under a lot of judgement from the world compared to the others. Strangely these people come in with the most issues and sometimes also violence. Regardless of what they bring with them, we have to understand that we ought to show them love.

How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest?

If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20). How are you responding to Jesus’ hospitality as an honored guest? The triclinium is used for the Passover meal. It consists of three couches. Guests would recline with their left hand supporting their head while feeding themselves with their right hand. Traditionally the two most honored guests at the feast would recline on the right and left hand of the host. John, who reclines on the Lord’s breast, sits at Jesus’ right (John 13:23) and Judas on His left. When Jesus identifies His betrayer, no one hears but Judas, who is sitting next to Him (Matthew 26:25). He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5).

Year One Readings: 2 Kings 15 2 Kings 16 2 Kings 17 John 6:1-21 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do (John 6:6).  He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (John 6:5). Jesus doesn’t ask the above question to Philip because He needs an answer; our Lord knows all things. The Good Shepherd’s question has a twofold effect: It shows the inability of men to meet the needs of mankind and displays the impossibility of feeding the vast multitude. Philip should have turned to Jesus and said, “For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37). This is the first miracle the disciples participate in with the Lord. Amazingly, Jesus provides “as much [bread and fish] as they wanted” (John 6:11). The verb “they wanted” occurs in the imperfect tense, showing continual action in past time.
