Devotion to prayer

Have you ever grown tired of praying for something or someone? Paul says we should "devote" ourselves to prayer and be "alert" in prayer. Our persistence is an expression of our faith that God answers our prayers. Faith shouldn't die if the answers come slowly, for the delay may be God's way of working his will in our lives. When you feel tired of praying, know that God is present, always listening, always answering-maybe not in ways you had hoped, but in ways that he knows are best.

Reflections

The devotional reminds me of the persistent widow who didn’t stop till the judge answers. We know that the Lord answers in His time and always in His perfect timing. However, we too not to give up praying, especially if something stirs our hearts so much. In the bible we can remember the examples when the Lord changed His mind after someone prayed or stand in the gap. We as His children ought to do the same as well.

Prayers are truly part of our Christian living. You cannot go through a day without praying. If somehow you do, perhaps it is also time for you to reflect upon your prayer life and your relationship with God. We cannot have a relationship without very much talking with one another. Close relationships are built by knowing one another and sharing with one another. It is also when confidence and trust is being built along the way. The more we know God, the more faith we have in Him and the more we are able to just trust Him. It is quite unlikely if someone can trust a stranger, especially with secrets.

Our Abba Father already knows us, even before we open our mouths to ask. He gives us things, knowing what we need even before we realised. We prompts us in our daily lives, when He realised that there are things we ought to do but had forgotten. His love our us knows no bounds. However, it would be difficult to realise all these if you don’t have any relationship with Him. You may not realise that He is into details until you slow down enough to hear Him.

Keep praying and may He reveal to us all His heart.
