How was Jesus made perfect through suffering?

Today's devotional: taken from YouVersion, Life Application Study Bible Devotion

How was Jesus made perfect through suffering? Jesus' suffering made him a perfect leader, or pioneer, of our salvation. Jesus did not need to suffer for his own salvation, because he was God in human form. His perfect obedience (which led him down the road of suffering) demonstrates that he was the complete sacrifice for us. Through suffering, Jesus completed the work necessary for our own salvation. Our suffering can make us more sensitive servants of God. People who have known pain are able to reach out with compassion to others who hurt. If you have suffered, ask God how your experience can be used to help others.

“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

The verse “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ came to mind when I read the above devotional.

It is through our own experiences and sufferings that we can bring encouragement to others who had been through similar issues. We may not fully understand the reason behind sufferings but I have seen many ministries that started because of sufferings as well. Examples are ex-convicts who went back to prisons to serve as counsellors, people who been through dementia, ADHD, or any mental illness as a caregiver starting support groups for others in a similar situations, etc. Even my mum who broke her wrist could bring encouragement to a friend’s mum due to a similar situation.

I guess if given a choice, we would rather not experience any forms of sufferings but His plans are higher and how on earth would we know that what we been through can actually help someone else as well. Knowing this in fact allows me to thank God even when faced with difficulties because He can use us in numerous ways, even ways we don’t think possible. All glory to God our Father!
