Remembering others in prayers
Paul constantly prayed for Timothy, his friend, his fellow traveler, his son in the faith, and a strong leader in the Christian church. Although the two men were separated from each other, their prayers provided a source of mutual encouragement. We too should pray consistently for others, especially for those who do God's work.
“I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.”
2 Timothy 1:3 NIV

Reflections
Praying for others to be very honest, was never part of my prayer life, especially when I was a very new Christian. At that point in time, my concern was knowing how to pray as I thought there is somewhat, a format to praying and worse yet, I was afraid of being asked to pray. Like whenever someone ask, “can someone pray for us”, I will look down and pray in my head, “please don’t call me.” ๐
I’m sure many can resonate with me as we struggle through prayers in a season of our lives. Maybe we are still struggling too but with different levels of prayers. Like some can pray only one to one and some can only do small groups, whereas some can pray in front of a mass of people and yet not be afraid. As we build confidence in praying, may we also not just have the courage to pray and also not be ashamed to pray.
Praying for others only started like I think only about slightly more than a year ago, where my CG leader stretched me by telling me to level up my prayer life to also pray for others, the church, the nation and the world. It took me time to get used to it and I am still learning.
What I do know, is that praying for others can also happen as and when, when the person comes to your mind or when they have a prayer request. Sometimes we woke up too early and it is also a chance for us to start our quiet time. May we be like Paul, who constantly remembers our friends and keeps them in our prayers.
