Role-model of Christ-likeness
Paul challenged the Philippians to pursue Christlikeness by following Paul's own pattern or example. This did not mean, of course, that they should copy everything he did; he had just stated that he was not perfect. But as he focused his life on being like Christ, so should they. The Gospels may not yet have been in circulation, so Paul could not tell them to read the Bible to see what Christ was like. Therefore he urged them to imitate him. That Paul could tell people to follow his example is a testimony to his character. Can you do the same? What kind of follower would a new Christian become if he or she imitated you?
“Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.”
Philippians 3:17 NIV

Reflections
I don’t think I can match up to Paul. There’s much more I have to catch up on before I can call people to follow me as an example. Paul has His heart all devoted to Christ. Here I am struggling just to do that.
We perhaps may think that this is a high calling but it ain’t. We are in a way so comfortable because a bible is so easily accessible but back in those days, the bible wasn’t ready yet. People just gather in synagogues and perhaps some common places to hear the Word.. they learn where someone is coming and travel far because they want to be there. Talk about yearning to hear the Word. We have everything so conveniently accessible to us. Everything seemed to be so easy within reach. You can also find out anything under the sun using google, though just to be aware that not all things that we found are the truth. There are loads of fake news or even news that are generated by AI which looks and feels like the real one but it isn’t.
So learn as we must but we ought to discern and pick the source of learning lest we get led astray.
