Single-minded focus on God
Paul says that his goal is to know Christ, to be like Christ, and to be all Christ has in mind for him. This goal absorbs all of Paul's energy. This is a helpful example for us. We should not let anything take our eyes off our goal-knowing Christ. With the single-mindedness of an athlete in training, we must lay aside everything harmful and forsake anything that may distract us from being effective Christians. What is holding you back?
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:12-14 NIV

Reflections
These verses have a huge personal impact on my life. It became the verse that also confirmed one of my major life decisions. The Lord has used this verse in specific timings too, thereafter to also guide me on my paths.
Distractions-what would they look like? It can be anything, really, and I am also not spared and He immediately made it known to me at times. Bottomline, distractions can be anything that takes your focus away from God. It can be a marriage, a person, a friend, a situation, and it can also be games, dramas, videos, that takes our eyes off Him. If we out of a sudden become obsessed with something, we need to be on high alert that that every thing can be our distraction from Him. A cue of how that happens, if something is stealing time away from us to read His word, be very wary. It can really be anything.
We need to remember whatever that was in the past is gone. Time wasted cannot be replaced. If our sole focus is not God it is something else and you and I both know what it is. May the Lord guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, helping us to discern by having the eyes, the ears and the heart of Jesus in us. He who is in us is our BFF. Learn to trust Him wholly and solely.
