Stand firm in truth
Paul knew that the Thessalonians would face pressure from persecutions, false teachers, worldliness, and apathy to waver from the truth and to leave the faith. So he urged them to "stand firm'' and hold on to the truth they had been taught through both his letters and in person. We also may face persecution, false teachings, worldliness, and apathy. We should hold on to the truth of Christ's teachings because our lives depend on it. Never forget the reality of Christ's life and love!
“So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.”
2 Thessalonians 2:15 NIV

Reflections
This devotional reminds me of the garden of gethsemane where Jesus asked His three disciples to keep watch and yet they fall asleep.
I felt that the Lord has also warned us countless times about certain things but we, either not hearing or refused to hear, fall short of the glory of God. He already knew what is to come and perhaps also knows that it may be unavoidable. Yet He forewarns them and also us, giving us more than enough chances and grace to turn our hearts towards Him.
As time passed and we get nearer to the second coming each day, more false teachings will appear from God knows where. Therefore we ought to be able to discern and know His truth. Without knowing the truth, there’s no way that we can discern. I pray that the Lord will grant us teachable hearts to know His word, surrender to His will and be obedient to His commands. All praise to His name.
