True purpose of living

True purpose of living
Because God will examine what kind of workers we have been for him, we should build our lives on his Word and build his Word into our lives-it alone tells us how to live for him and serve him. Believers who ignore the Bible will certainly be ashamed at the judgment. Consistent and diligent study of God's Word is vital; otherwise, we will be lulled into neglecting God and our true purpose for living.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”2 Timothy 2:15 NIV

Reflections
Some thoughts came to mind when I was reading the above devotional. What does consistent and diligent study of God’s Word mean to us? What would it mean to be someone who correctly handles the word of truth?
I think the word study can be subjective to many. Some study for fun, some study to pass exams, some study because of interest but why study the Word of God then? I think in my opinion, it is more of wanting to know God more and His will, that’s why we study. Because without understanding of His Word, we cannot be good Christians. Studying
His Word means that we learn what He wants to teach us and apply it into our lives. We allow the Holy Spirit to transform us and shape us and we become Jesus’s true disciple. It is no longer I who liveth but Christ who lives in me.
What does it mean to be someone who correctly handles the word of truth? I think then this person would have to be someone who is discerning and have a close relationship with God. Not only that, the person would need to have reverence for our Lord, have a thirst for His Word, to be able to handle the Word as the Word itself is holy and written by the Lord. Not handling it with contempt or even ignoring His teachings. Bless us with clean hands and a pure heart O Lord, that all that we do, think or say brings glory to Your name. In the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen ๐๐ป
