Work for the Lord
A busybody is a gossip. An idle person who doesn't work ends up filling his or her time with less than helpful activities, like gossip. Rumors and hearsay are tantalizing, exciting to hear, and make us feel like insiders. But they tear people down. If you often find your nose in other people's business, you may be underemployed. Look for a task to do for Christ or for your family, and get to work.
“We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.”
2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 NIV

Reflections
I believe this idling that is mentioned, is quite likely tied to how we spend our time. It is not to say we don’t have fun or spend time on holidays but idling our time away and doing things that doesn’t edify anyone or worse yet, may stumble someone.
As I was writing this, a person came to mind. She doesn’t work and has never worked in her whole life. She spend her free time going to friend’s houses to play mahjong. She is very hospitable though and plays a great host. However, the words that come out from her mouth are usually critical, full of gossips and non-edifying. It makes me wonder that if she can criticise so many people in front of me, she definitely will criticise me to the others too. So these kind of people, I tend to also stay away.
The other kind is a silent worker. You know they do their things because things will move and they don’t sound the gong or the clangs to tell people they are working. They work hard and they also enjoy their break well-deserved. I think this is the kind of people who ought to model after, doing things for the Lord and yet also enjoying our sabbath.
