Chosen by God

Peter wanted to rouse the complacent believers who had listened to the false teachers and believed that because salvation is not based on good deeds, they could live any way they wanted. If you truly belong to the Lord, Peter wrote, your hard work will prove it. If you're not working to develop the qualities listed in 2 Peter 1:5-7, maybe you don't belong to him. If you are the Lord's-and your hard work backs up your claim to be chosen by God ("called and chosen'')-you will never be led astray by the lure of false teaching or glamorous sin.

“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.”2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Lord qualifies the called. He don’t call the qualified. God’s ways is always about obedience. The surrendering of self to Him and letting Him take over. Because when we are very sure of our calling or what He wants us to do, our end goal becomes super clear. There will not be doubts because we will be able to set the things that came up against the end goal in mind. If it doesn’t align, we know that is not from Him.

Therefore once our hearts are set on things above, He will swing the door wide open. Because He would have gone before us and prepare the way for us. It will and can be something that even goes beyond human possibility or understanding, just because it came from Him. Also because He is Lord and creator of heaven and earth. Like who else should we obey if not Him? Because if it is not Him it will be the enemy. There is no grey area. There is no selected obedience either. It’s either we obey or we don’t.

“No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.”1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Therefore, may the Lord grant us wisdom, knowledge and discernment to make wise choices.
