Do you have a personal relationship with Christ

Do you have a personal relationship with Christ

The Israelites of Moses' day illustrate a problem facing many who fill our churches today. They know a great deal about Christ, but they do not know him personally-they don't combine their knowledge with faith. Let the Good News about Christ benefit your life. Believe in him and then act on what you know. Trust in Christ and do what he says.

“For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

Many Christians have a lot of head knowledge but fail to have heart knowledge. Then they say they don’t hear from God, they never experience Him or that the Lord never speak to them. Do you have or heard similar complaints before as well?

I used to think that I too, didn’t know God or never hear from Him. However, I come to realise one thing. We cannot hear God if we don’t allow Him to speak or give Him the chance to speak. We busy ourselves with so many things but had forgotten that even Jesus takes pauses throughout the day to pray and seek the Father, then what more us?

It felt that we are so obsessed about doing we totally forgot about being. We forgot that rest and being still is the best way to hear from God. Have you hear people tell you that they usually hear God while they are in the shower? Strange? Not really. It is the time when the minds don’t think about anything else but is just focused on wanting to clean themselves up. When the world doesn’t distract us, we can and tend to be able to hear God clearly. However, when temptations or distractions fill our minds, we don’t hear anything at all. It is too clouded with stuff that there’s no space for God.

God isn’t our priority. We let the other things such as work, family or friends become our priority. As such, it will definitely be difficult to hear from God, let alone have a relationship with Him.

Think of our Lord as our life partner. You would put Him first, you will wrap your thoughts around Him and all about Him. You want to get to know Him more, you want to spend more time with Him. The more time you spent time with Him, the better you know Him and the better You know Him, the more you understand His heart, His will and His plans / thoughts. We may not fully understand or be able to grasp completely what He wants us to learn but we can trust Him more because of this relationship.
