God’s chosen people

God’s chosen people

People often base their self-concept on their accomplishments. But our relationship with Christ is far more important than our jobs, successes, wealth, or knowledge. We have been chosen by God as his very own, and we have been called to represent him to others. Remember that your value comes from being one of God's children, not from what you can achieve. You have worth because of what God does, not because of what you do.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

We are dust and indeed dust has got zero value. The only difference is that God cares enough for us, loving us, even though we are nothing much. He loves us not because of which family we are born into, what titles we hold, how rich we are, what status we have, etc. He loves us regardless and accepts us regardless.

I often times feel so small as compared to others. But of course, never compare because it will only bring us to a low point in life (exactly what the enemy wants us to do). But give thanks to the Lord for it is His strength that holds us, His grace and mercy that guides us, bringing us and carrying us through all the valleys of life. He places us in places where we never think we should be, granting us the wisdom or knowledge to function as He leads. It takes tremendous effort if you ask me, to learn His ways. Painful for sure but ultimately, it is to give Him the glory.

By our yielding to His will and His plans, He can use us more effectively and as He wishes. Without obedience, it is hard to even achieve the smallest things.

I’ve since learnt not to fight with Him and just do as He says. No questions asked. Just an ok I will do it. Even though the process may be tough, even though it can be grinding us, refining us, etc., but all these will only build our faith, guiding us into His paths for His name sake. All praise be to You Lord.
