Repentance before the year ends

Today's devotional: taken from YouVersion, Life Application Study Bible Devotion

Repentance before the year ends

God may have seemed slow to these believers as they faced persecution every day and longed to be delivered. But God is not slow; he just is not on our timetable. Jesus is waiting so that more sinners will repent and turn to him. We must not sit and wait for Christ to return, but we should live with the realization that time is short and that we have important work to do. Be ready to meet Christ any time, even today; yet plan your course of service as though he may not return for many years.

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

I was writing my reflections for part two of yesterday’s devotional not realising it is related to today’s devotional as well. He has indeed amazing ways to show us things that He wants us to focus on.

His coming is near. We should never stay complacent or think that His coming is not happening so soon. For by what day or hours we do not know and only our Father knows. So we should always be prepared, ever ready to go. No turning back.

Keep at it whatever that You are doing. We need to persevere and keep drawing close to the Lord. If we don’t, we are giving the enemy a chance to drive a wedge between us and Him. That should never happen. You cannot keep a relationship without seeing or talking with someone for a long time. If we love someone, we will seek them and want to be with them. If it is not, there is no love and there is also no relationship. If we say we love Jesus but are not doing anything, we don’t really love Him. We need to take steps to show our love and know Him

Repentance is the topic that is flowing somewhat these few days. We cannot run away from repentance and only through repentance, then can we experience God more personally and intimately. There are trust issues if we don’t tell God everything and repent of all things that we should repent. No hidden agenda and no second guessing what He wants from us. Only when our hearts and minds are open to receive Him will be truly be able to experience Him in our lives.

When we want to start a new relationship with someone, we do want to let the person know what happened in the past. We don’t want to hide anything. There should be no reservations and that should be the same with the Lord..
