Start living for God

Life is short no matter how many years we live. Don't be deceived into thinking that you have lots of remaining time to live for Christ, to enjoy your loved ones, or to do what you know you should. Live for God today! Then, no matter when your life ends, you will have fulfilled God's plan for you.

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

I remembered this verse when during the staff devotion, the discussion arising from the book of

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬. The author has said that everything was meaningless. Everything is fleeting, temporal here on earth, which reminds me of this verse from James, that mentioned life to be like mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Nothing in this life is really permanent. Not the family, not the friends, not the relationships or the colleagues. What is permanent is only our Lord and our creator, who has been there since the beginning of time. The Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.

We live a life thinking it’s still a long way and often takes drama to wake us up from our ideal world. Accidents happen. People suddenly contracting terminal illness. The next moment we know, the ones that we hold close is gone-though not forever. We will still get to meet them in heaven.

So really, we ought to start living for God. Don’t give any more excuses like, Oh I will wait till I’m retired so I can have more time to serve. Or say things like oh I just got married and plans to have kids first. The next thing you will say is that you want to wait till your kids are older. Then you say you want for your kids to start working, or got married. So when, will we really start to serve? The time, is NOW.
