The power of God’s Word

God called the universe into existence out of nothing; he declared that it was to be, and it was. Our faith is in the God who created the entire universe by his word. God's word has awesome power. When he speaks, do you listen and respond? How can you better prepare yourself to respond to God's word?

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

Our Lord, by His Sovereignty, commanded and made everything. It was not formed with His hands but by His words. Therefore, by what God has promised and told us, we should be confident and have faith that it will all be fulfilled. Because if He, who is the Lord God Almighty who created the heavens and the earth, what is it that is not within His means to create?

I was reading the commentary for Genesis 1 on creation and one commentary was nicely written. It mentioned about the science that was behind all creation and said that it can only be God. Take the eye for example. The complexity of an eye is a lot more than we can imagine. The different parts of an eye and how it can reflect images, distinguish colours and allows us to see both near and far, in bright and dimly lit conditions are all parts of our eye’s abilities to see things. Not to mention that one iris is different from another and that we even use that to identify ourselves during immigration clearance. What kind of science or mathematics would be needed to create that one eye if not trillions of eyes (looking at the vast number of human beings in the world)? It can only be God. There is no better explanation.

So how to better prepare myself to listen to God’s word? I think to me, having that trust in Him is important. Don’t doubt. However, also don’t expect Him to move according to our thinking or wishes because His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. Expect differences, expect things that we never even hear before, expect things to change dynamically or even dramatically and learn to just flow with Him.
