Ask and it shall be given

Ask and it will be given

If your conscience is clear, you can come to God without fear, confident that your requests will be heard. John reaffirms Jesus' promise that whatever we ask for will be given to us. You will receive if you obey and do what pleases him because you will then be asking in line with God's will. Of course this does not mean that you can have anything you want, like instant riches. If you are truly seeking God's will, there are some requests you will not make.

“Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflections

This devotional plan ends on 1 Jan which is today.

Indeed He hears all our prayers and answers if we ask according to His will. A fact is that we have to ask. There are things that the Lord will freely give. Things that are minor, our wants, non essentials, etc. He satisfies those wants and unspoken prayers. We need to tell nobody and He just knows. It just proves what kind of God He is, that bothers to know even the smallest request that was left unspoken. When you experience it yourself, You will know and we give thanks and praise to all these small things.

Don’t ever take what we own for granted. It is not earned by us, not given freely to us by our own efforts. He has picked and chosen what to give us and for that, we ought to be thankful for all the things and people in our life, even the bad ones.

I always say, the very breath that we take is from Him. The house that we stay that is secured and away from harm is given by Him. The fact that we have a comfortable bed to sleep is a luxury. That safety we experience, not having to worry about crimes are also something we ought to be thankful for. We have lights when the sky turned dark, we have a mobile phone that helps us with a lot of things. For me even writing my reflections. We have warm water to shower, proper toilets to use and enough food to eat. We have no lack.. Indeed the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.

So as a child of God, we will not ask the Lord for money, prosperity, power, status, etc. He picks and chooses who to give these things to. We ask the Lord for wisdom, guidance, knowledge and how to grow our faith. All these things He will answer, for these are all in line with His Will.

_Lord help us to start 2026 with a good note. Help anchor us in the faith that propels us forward to the goal that You have set for us at the end of the year. We want to commit this year into Your hands, letting You guide our daily lives for Your name’s sake. Bless us O Lord, with Your blessings overflowing from our cup so we may bless the others too. In Jesus’s most precious name we pray. Amen_๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
