Remember Lot’s wife (Luke 17:32).
Why remember Lot’s wife?
The Bible records information about Lot concerning his ancestry and background. Yet we don’t know the same details about his wife. We are not even given her name. Sadly, the nameless woman didn’t have to die. The Lord gives her ample reasons to choose to abandon Sodom. She would have been among those kidnapped that Abraham rescues (Genesis 14:11-16). At that time, she may have been exposed to Abraham’s dealings with Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18-24). Moreover, Lot’s wife had the privilege to have Abraham in the family. Abraham is dubbed “the father of faith,” and Lot’s wife likely saw and heard about his trust in the living God. Nonetheless, this world’s system consisting of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life captivates Lot’s wife, and its allurements kill her!
Employment Point: Don’t attach yourself to this world’s system, but the one to come.

Reflections
The remembering of Lot’s wife is meant to be a teaching session for us. Reminding us not to focus our lives on the possessions of the world, or anything or anyone of the world. When the Lord calls us to move out of a place, He definitely has His reasons. Sometimes, without our knowledge, He is shielding us from harm. We just need to trust Him and know that He always has our best interests.
““It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.”Luke 17:28-29 NIV
- the Lord had protected Lot and his family because of the promise He made to Abraham.
- Of course we know that He too, does have the power to destroy but He too, has power to restore and heal. Where the others don’t see, the Lord had allowed Lot to experience what it meant to obey Him. He brought him out of Sodom where he later destroyed the whole place.
Trust in the Lord! His love endures forever!

Have I Slandered God?
BY OSWALD CHAMBERS
April 20
To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. — Matthew 25:15
Jesus told the parable of the bags of gold as a warning that it is possible for us to misjudge our own abilities. The parable doesn’t concern natural gifts; it concerns the gift of the Holy Spirit. We must not measure our spiritual abilities by our natural abilities. Spiritual capacity has nothing to do with intellect or education; it is measured by the promises of God.
If we get less, spiritually speaking, than God wants us to have, sooner or later we will slander him. We will say to God, “You expect more of me than you’ve given me power to do.” Or, “I can’t be true to you where you’ve placed me.” Never say, “I can’t” when it’s a question of God’s almighty Spirit. Never let your natural limitations factor in. If we’ve received the Holy Spirit, God expects the work of the Holy Spirit to be manifested in us, no matter what.
In the parable, the unworthy servant tries to justify himself at every turn. He slanders his master, complaining that his master’s demands are too high and expressing doubts and worries about what he’s been asked to do (Matthew 25:24). Have we been slandering God by daring to worry? Have we forgotten Matthew 6:33: “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you”? Worrying means exactly what the unworthy servant implied: “I know you intend to leave me high and dry.” The person who is lazy is always full of anxious self-pity, always saying, “I haven’t been given a decent chance.” The person who is spiritually lazy is like this with God.
Never forget that your capacity in spiritual matters is measured by the promises of God. Is God able to fulfill his promises? How you answer depends on whether or not you’ve received the Holy Spirit.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD
Sincerity means that the appearance and the reality are exactly the same.

Reflections
Somehow after reading this devotional. The Song “glory” started playing in my head.. sharing the link with you as we start by worshipping the Lord…

Never let your natural limitations factor in.
- this is a main problem with many of us I feel. When we hear the calling from God, we start to reason or start to negotiate with the Lord, telling Him it is not possible with us but forgetting the one who can truly make it happen.
If we kept forgetting that the Lord is in control and allow ourselves to take over his position, we will end up with a lot of worries because we care too much to a point that we are trying to play God.
“complaining that his master’s demands are too high”
- we struggle with this as well. We may know who the Lord is, the creator or heaven and earth. However when it comes to challenges and worries, we replace the Lord’s position with someone or something else. Anxiety starts to crepe in and we think that there’s only one way to deal with it.
Let’s pray:
Father we just want to thank You for being with us. Guiding us and leading us on the many matters on hand. Even when we become disobedient, Lord You never give up on us. Thank You for Your love. In Jesus’s name we ask and pray. Amen 🙏🏻
